Chemical Stability of PP Sheets
PP sheet is a crystalline material with a relatively high melting point, primarily used in acid and alkali resistant equipment and as the primary choice for manufacturing plastic water tanks. How about the chemical stability of PP sheets? Below is a summary:
PP sheets can be formed through many methods, such as injection molding, extrusion molding, blow molding, vacuum thermoforming, coating, rotational molding, welding, processing, electroplating, and foaming. They can be sprayed onto metal surfaces. However, prolonged contact with metal walls can lead to decomposition and carbonization, so care must be taken during processing to avoid leaving the material in the barrel for too long. During PP sheet injection molding, to facilitate plasticization, the torpedo of the injection molding machine should be extended. To shorten the injection molding cycle, the injection molding temperature can also be appropriately increased, but it must be controlled to avoid severe degradation.
Selecting the appropriate mold temperature during injection molding is crucial because polypropylene molecules are prone to orientation, which can cause strain and reduced impact strength. Orientation is more likely to occur under low-temperature, high-pressure injection conditions, so the temperature should not be too low, otherwise, the surface gloss of the molded product will be poor, or defects such as weld lines may appear. Of course, the mold temperature should not be too high either, as it can cause product warping. PP sheets have excellent secondary processing performance, and their printability is superior to polyethylene. The products can have a bronze finish.
